Biography

Marla Brown is a Republican Pennsylvania State Representative for the 9th Legislative District, serving parts of Lawrence County. Born in 1970 in Edinburg, Pennsylvania, she is the daughter of Italian-American parents—her father an industrial arts teacher at Mohawk High School for 35 years and her mother a homemaker. The oldest of four children, she excelled in high school as class president, homecoming queen, student council member, and student newspaper contributor, while working at her family's Rosy’s Italian Bakery in New Castle and representing her school at the Junior Miss pageant for Lawrence County.

With over 30 years of private sector experience, Brown served 15 years as an executive at UPS, then opened and grew a medical spa in Georgia for nine years before selling it. She later became CEO of the nonprofit Catholic pro-life organization Pregnancy Aid Clinic, tripling its growth in three years by expanding locations and funding. In 2018, she returned to Lawrence County to be near family and support her community. Elected to represent the 9th District, she began her first term prior to 2025 and was selected for a second term in 2025.

Her priorities include growing Pennsylvania's economy, expanding educational opportunities while respecting taxpayers, improving government openness, reducing health care costs, enhancing community safety, maintaining infrastructure, supporting the energy economy, and advocating for state's rights, Second Amendment, and pro-life positions. She opposes government "social experiments" in schools and homes, emphasizing free markets.
