Biography
Mark L. Walker is a Democratic member of the Illinois State Senate representing District 27, which includes northwest suburbs such as Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Inverness, Long Grove, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Prospect Heights, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, and Wheeling. A Vietnam veteran, full-time legislator, former financial industry executive, entrepreneur, and management consultant, he is married with one adult son and has been a dedicated advocate for veterans, service members, and the homeless. Notable roles include former chairman of the Arlington Heights Veterans Committee, board member of the Arlington Heights Park District Foundation, and board member/treasurer for Journeys The Road Home, a homeless resource center. He serves on the Senate Committee on Human Rights and Senate Committee on Insurance.
Education and Political Experience
Walker earned a B.A. and M.A. from Brown University. His political career includes service in the Illinois House from 2009-2011 and 2019-2024 , followed by election to the Senate in 2024 representing the 27th District. He focuses on small business reforms, economic development, and community support.
