Biography
Mark C. Walczyk is a Republican state senator representing New York's 49th Senate District, which encompasses Fulton, Hamilton, Jefferson, Lewis, and parts of Herkimer, Oswego, and St. Lawrence counties in Northern New York and the Mohawk Valley. He began serving as senator in January 2023, after previously representing Assembly District 116 from 2019 to 2022. A conservative fighter, Walczyk advocates for families, combats corruption, promotes economic growth, defends the Constitution, and led efforts to reduce former Governor Andrew Cuomo's power.
Education and Political Experience
Walczyk serves as the ranking Republican member on the Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation and the Elections Committee, and is a member of the Committees on Agriculture, Cities 2, Energy and Telecommunications, Internet and Technology, and Legislative Commission on Rural Resources. Since 2012, he has served as a commissioned engineer officer in the United States Army Reserve.
