Mark Thane is a Democratic representative in the Montana House of Representatives, currently serving House District 89 in Missoula. A lifelong Missoula resident born there around 1959 , he is married to Mary with two daughters, Lindsay and Emilie. Thane retired in 2019 after a 39-year career in Missoula County Public Schools, where he served as superintendent, director of human resources and labor relations, teacher, and administrator. He has been involved in community boards including United Way, Partnership Health, Community Medical Center, YMCA, and Missoula Economic Partnership. First elected in November 2020 to District 99 , he previously served in 2021 and 2023 sessions and won re-election to District 89.
