Mark D. Sickles is a Democratic politician representing Virginia's 17th House District . Now serving his eleventh term in the Virginia House of Delegates, he focuses on affordable health care, expanded voting access, gun safety, equality, and Northern Virginia transportation. Previously the Secretary of Finance under Governor Abigail Spanberger, he works full-time for a national marine construction company. Notable achievements include passing Medicaid Expansion, securing teacher pay raises, advancing the Equal Rights Amendment in 2019, leading gun violence prevention laws like expanded background checks and extreme risk protections, establishing the Virginia Health Insurance Exchange and Commonwealth Health Reinsurance Program, and patroning a constitutional amendment for marriage equality.
