Biography
Mark Sharp is a Democratic representative for Missouri House District 37, serving since 2020 after succeeding fellow Democrat DaRon McGee. He grew up in south Kansas City, graduated from Hickman Mills High School, and has worked as a classroom teacher and coach. Sharp is involved in community organizations including Concord Fortress of Hope, Freedom Inc., NAACP, and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. Notable achievements include sponsoring legislation to criminalize negligent firearm discharge in cities and co-sponsoring bills to strengthen penalties for witness tampering and establish a pre-trial witness protection program. He serves as Ranking Democratic Member on the House Committee on Education Reform Special.
