Biography
Mark G. Schoesler is a Republican member of the Washington State Senate, representing District 9 since 2005. This district spans parts or all of Adams, Asotin, Franklin, Garfield, Spokane, and Whitman counties, extending from north of Spangle and Rockford to south of Asotin, west to Othello and half of Pasco, and east to the Idaho border; he proudly represents Washington State University in Pullman and Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
A longtime advocate for Eastern Washington, Schoesler served 12 years in the Washington House of Representatives starting in 1992 . He was elected to the Senate in 2004 and held leadership roles, including eight years as Senate Republican Leader in the Senate Republican Caucus and Majority Coalition Caucus. Currently, he serves on the Labor, Commerce and Tribal Affairs and Ways and Means committees, plus the Select Committee on Pension Policy; he has also been Ranking Member on Capital and chaired the Legislative Oral History Committee.
Notable achievements include the Washington Potato Commission Legislator of the Year award and multiple AWB Cornerstone Awards .
