Biography
Mark Lofgren is a Republican member of the Iowa Senate representing District 48. Born on June 26, 1961, in Muscatine, Iowa, he is a lifelong Iowa resident married to Paula for over 35 years, with four children and five grandchildren. A former coach for track, basketball, and soccer at the Muscatine Community Y and Youth Sports Foundation, he is an avid runner and community volunteer involved in initiatives like the Muscatine Blue Zones Project and Meals on Wheels.
Notable achievements include defeating Democratic incumbent Chris Brase in 2016 to enter the Senate, serving on key committees such as Appropriations , Local Government , Transportation, Health and Human Services, Judiciary, and Workforce, and earning awards like Legislator of the Year from the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa.
