Biography
Mark W. Koran is a Republican member of the Minnesota Senate representing District 28, which includes portions of Chisago and Isanti counties. Born on April 1, 1964, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and raised in the Frogtown neighborhood, he resides in North Branch with his wife Cindy; they have three grown children and four grandchildren. The family is known for hosting the annual Koran Family Christmas Display, a holiday light tradition since 1958. Koran serves on the Lent Township Planning Commission and has over 34 years of experience in public and private sectors, including as a manager for the Minnesota Department of Revenue, owning his own business, and as a senior sales manager for a large financial institution. First elected in 2016 to District 32, he was reelected in 2020 and 2022 to District 28, currently in his third term . Notable positions include focus on health care, education, transportation, energy, taxation, rural broadband, government effectiveness, and elder care; he advocates for commonsense conservative policies, such as protecting religious liberties.
