Biography
Mark Hiner
Mark Hiner is a Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives, representing the 98th district. He was first elected in 2024, defeating Democratic nominee Annie Homstad with 75% of the vote after the previous incumbent was term-limited. He lives in Knox County with his wife Veronica, whom he has been married to for 33 years. The couple has two children, two grandchildren, and two grandpups.
The 98th district encompasses all of Coshocton and Holmes counties and eastern Knox County, with his hometown listed as Howard.
Education
Hiner holds a degree in Broadcast Engineering Technology and earned an MBA from Ohio University in 2006.
Political Experience and Positions
Hiner is serving his first term in the Ohio House of Representatives. He currently holds the following positions:
- Vice Chair of the House Arts, Athletics, and Tourism Committee for the 136th General Assembly
- Member of the House Agriculture, Natural Resources and Small Businesses Committees
As a business owner, Hiner has built several successful businesses from the ground up since 2002 and is the owner of Hiner Properties, LLC. He is a strong advocate for conservative principles, including limited government, fiscal conservatism, and constitutional rights. He is a member of both the Buckeye Firearms Association and the National Rifle Association, receiving an "A" rating from the former organization as a candidate. His policy priorities include reducing taxes, eliminating the Ohio Income Tax, and advancing Second Amendment protections.
