Biography

Mark James Cusack is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 5th Norfolk District, which includes all precincts in Braintree and Precincts 1 and 2 in Holbrook. A lifelong resident of Braintree, he was elected in 2010 and is currently serving his eighth term. Notable achievements include serving as House Chair of the Joint Committee on Revenue since 2019, where he helped pass the 2023 Tax Relief Bill, and previous roles as Chair of the Joint Committee on Marijuana Policy and the Committee on Technology and Intergovernmental Affairs.

Education and Political Experience

Cusack graduated from Braintree High School in 2003 and earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Massachusetts Amherst's Commonwealth College Honors Program in 2007. Before entering the House, he interned for Congressman Stephen Lynch and worked as an assistant to Braintree Mayor Joseph Sullivan, aiding the town's transition to a mayor-town council government. In the House since 2011, he has held leadership positions such as Vice Chair of the Joint Committee on Telecommunications, Utilities, and Energy, and serves on the Tax Expenditure Review Commission and the Online Gaming, Fantasy Sports Gaming and Daily Fantasy Sports Commission.
