Biography
Representative Mark Anderson
Mark Anderson is a Republican state representative serving Connecticut's 62nd House District, which includes the towns of Barkhamsted, Granby, Hartland, and New Hartford. Elected in 2021 and re-elected to his third term in November 2024, he serves as Ranking Member of the Veterans’ & Military Affairs Committee and on the Education, Environment, and Transportation committees.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Mark Anderson was raised in East Granby, Connecticut, and Granville, Massachusetts, and has also lived in Springfield, Hampden , and East Hartland. A Granby resident since 2015, he lives with his wife Carole; they have a blended family with three adult daughters and two sons. Both lost their first spouses to cancer. Anderson had a distinguished military career as an Army Reserve Officer in Military Intelligence, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after serving two and a half years mobilized with the Defense Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C., and working as an Army Reserve civilian administrator.
Notable achievements include leading a 2024 unanimous effort to secure steady water flow in the Farmington River, enhancing recreation safety and aquatic wildlife. He earned a perfect 100% legislative score from CBIA in 2025.
Education and Political Experience
Anderson attended regional schools, graduated from Western New England University, and recently earned a Master’s in Public Policy from Liberty University. His political experience began with election to the Connecticut House in 2021, focusing on public safety, fiscal responsibility, and strong local communities. He has sponsored bills on education freedom, homeschooling participation in school activities, and environmental quantification.
