Biography
Marissa Jiménez Santoni, known as "Marissita," is a Puerto Rican Senator representing District VIII ** for the *Partido Nuevo Progresista *, serving the 2025-2028 term. Born on February 18, 1979, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, she spent most of her life in Carolina. She currently holds the position of **Segunda Vicepresidenta of the Senate and serves as Presidenta of the Senate Commission on Climate Change Mitigation, Adaptation and Resilience.
Education and Political Experience
- Completed primary education at Escuela Segunda Unidad de Río Arriba in Arecibo.
- Attended intermediate school at Escuela Intermedia Ángel P. Millán in Carolina.
- Finished high school at Escuela Luz América Calderón in Carolina.
Her political career began in early adolescence as part of the Organización de la Juventud del Partido Nuevo Progresista, where she was elected Vicepresidenta Municipal at age 14. At 18, she worked as a polling official and voted in the 1998 plebiscite. She has served as Coordinadora Electoral and Comisionada Electoral for Precinto 107 in Carolina, which she has presided over since 2019. Additional roles include director of "Get Out The Vote" for the Carolina region, collaborator for mayors, senators, representatives, and governors, and member of the Organización de Servidores Públicos. Professionally, she has worked in the private sector, focusing on customer service.
