Biography
Marilyn Dondero Loop is a Democratic member of the Nevada State Senate representing District 8, which includes parts of Las Vegas such as Summerlin. Born in 1951 in Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada, she grew up in a family of five children dedicated to public service and has lived in District 8 for over 25 years. A former educator with deep roots in Nevada's public schools, she has three daughters and five grandchildren. Her career focuses on education reform, economic development, and bipartisan collaboration to improve public schools, attract jobs, and support small businesses.
Notable achievements include receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award for Advancement & Support of Education from the Nevada Association of School Superintendents in 2014, sponsoring over 50% education-related measures in each legislative session, and championing teacher licensing reforms. She has held leadership roles such as Co-Majority Whip , President Pro Tempore, Chair of the Finance Committee, Chair of Revenue and Economic Development, and Vice Chair of Commerce and Labor.
