Marially González Huertas

Marially González Huertas was born on August 16, 1981, in Utuado, Puerto Rico. She grew up in Jayuya, known as "La Tierra Alta," alongside her parents, Hilda Huertas and Jorge "Georgie" González, who served as Mayor of Jayuya. She currently resides in Jayuya and is a member of the *Partido Popular Democrático *.

Education

González Huertas completed her secondary education at Escuela Superior Josefina León Zayas in Jayuya. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences with a specialization in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus. She later completed a Doctoral Program in School Psychology from the Inter-American University of Puerto Rico, Metro Campus.

Political Experience

Current Position: González Huertas serves as Senator for Ponce District V, representing the district since her election in November 2020 and was re-elected for a second term .

Notable Achievements:
- During her first term, she held the position of Vice President of the Senate of Puerto Rico, a role that enabled her to advance legislative projects and public policy initiatives benefiting both her district and Puerto Rico overall.
- She presided over the Commissions on Ethics; Compliance and Restructuring; Internal Affairs; and Youth, Recreation and Sports.
- She was selected by her delegation as Alternate Spokesperson of the Partido Popular Democrático, focusing her efforts on social justice and the welfare of Puerto Rico's people.
