Biography
Marc R. Pacheco is a Democrat who represented the 1st Plymouth and Bristol district in the Massachusetts State Senate from 1993 to 2025, after serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1989 to 1993. He is the highest-ranking elected official of Portuguese descent in Massachusetts and served as President Pro Tempore, Dean of the Senate, Senate Chair of the Portuguese American Legislative Caucus, and Senate Chair of the Legislative Caucus on International Trade and Global Competitiveness. Notable achievements include authoring the Pacheco Law , chief sponsorship of the 2006 minimum wage increase benefiting over 315,000 workers, and initiating the Global Warming Solutions Act.
