Biography

Marc Catlin is a Republican state senator representing Colorado's 5th Senate District, which covers Delta, Eagle, Garfield, Gunnison, Hinsdale, Montrose, and Pitkin counties on the Western Slope. A lifelong resident of Montrose, Colorado, he was born and raised on his family's generational irrigated row crop farm, where they grew sugar beets, Coors barley, sweet corn, and seed beans. Catlin has deep expertise in water issues, having managed the Uncompahgre Valley Water Users Association—the largest irrigation association on the Western Slope—for over a decade, served as Water Rights Coordinator for Montrose County, and acted as Vice President of the Colorado River District. His priorities include protecting agriculture, strengthening rural economies, improving water policy, and amplifying Western Slope voices. Notable achievements include being the first Colorado legislator placed in a leadership position on a standing committee while in the minority party during his House service, and hosting a weekly radio show, Diversions, on water, business, and agriculture for over five years.
