Biography
Manny Cruz is a Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 7th Essex District . A proud son of Salem raised by a single immigrant mother of Dominican and Puerto Rican heritage, he is a father, public servant, entrepreneur, and non-profit leader who overcame domestic violence, abuse, and challenges in the school system. He became the first Afro-Latino elected to the Salem School Committee in 2017 and the first Afro-Latino state representative from Salem after winning the 2022 election unopposed in the general following a Democratic primary victory. Cruz campaigned on education, climate justice, and reproductive rights, and currently serves as Advocacy Director for Latinos for Education and Vice Chair of the Salem School Committee.

- Staff in State Representative Paul F. Tucker's office , focusing on education, public safety, tourism, and city initiatives.
- Elected to Salem School Committee , first Afro-Latino member.
