Biography
Mai Xiong is a Democratic State Representative for Michigan's 13th House District, serving constituents in southeast, east, and northeast Warren, as well as Roseville and St. Clair Shores. Born on December 19, 1984, in a Thai refugee camp to Hmong parents who fled persecution after the Vietnam War, she immigrated to the United States in 1987. Her family became naturalized U.S. citizens in 1997. Married to Adam Kue since 2011, she is a mother of four children and founder of Mai&Co., a clothing design business inspired by her Hmong heritage that she started in 2017 and expanded to a storefront in 2019. Notable achievements include becoming Michigan's first Hmong-American and Asian-American elected official as a Macomb County Commissioner in 2020, where she supported small businesses, public transportation, and services for seniors and veterans. She won a 2024 special election and full term for the state House.
