Biography
Lynn Stucky
Lynn Dale Stucky was born on February 20, 1958, in Kansas. He is an American veterinarian who served as a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for the 64th District in Denton County in northern Texas. Stucky held this position from January 10, 2017, until January 14, 2025, when his tenure ended following his defeat in the 2024 Republican primary runoff.
Education and Professional Background
Stucky practiced as a veterinarian in the Denton area for many years. Prior to his election to the state House, he had significant involvement in local education, serving on the Sanger Independent School District Board of Trustees for 15 years, including four years as board president.
Political Experience
Stucky was elected to the Texas House in 2016, succeeding retired Republican Myra Crownover. During his time in the legislature, he served as vice chair of the House Committee on Higher Education and interim chair of the County Affairs Committee in the 87th Texas Legislature. He was particularly known for his pro-life legislative record, voting for multiple bills restricting abortion access, defunding Planned Parenthood, and protecting infants born alive after abortion attempts.
In 2024, Stucky lost his reelection bid in the Republican primary runoff to challenger Andy Hopper by approximately 2,500 votes, with a final tally of 8,951 to 6,458.
