Biography
Lynda D. Wilson is a Republican who represented Washington's 17th Legislative District in the State Senate until stepping down in 2024 to spend more time with family. A native Washingtonian born in Spokane, she grew up in a military family, experiencing domestic violence, and later became a single mother, small business owner with her husband at DeWils Industries , and cancer survivor after a 2018 breast cancer diagnosis.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduated from Evergreen High School and attended Clark Community College.
- Political Experience: Served as Clark County Republican Party Chairman in 2013; elected to Washington State House in 2014, defeating incumbent Democrat Monica Stonier; elected to State Senate in 2016 and reelected in 2020, serving two terms until announcing in March 2024 she would not seek reelection.
Notable achievements include sponsoring the Tiffany Hill Act for real-time monitoring of domestic violence perpetrators, Mental Health for Heroes Act for veterans' counseling, Small Business Bill of Rights, elimination of tax on menstrual products, and bills for government transparency, rural workforce development, academic free speech, and local economic control. She earned a lifetime 89% rating from the American Conservative Union.
