Lupe Contreras is a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives, representing District 22 since 2023. Born on July 27, 1975, in Phoenix, Arizona, to parents Manuel and Oralia Contreras, he is the youngest of four children and grew up working in the fields picking onions and melons during high school summers. He resides in Avondale with his wife, Sara , and their children. Contreras has over a decade of legislative experience, including roles as Minority Leader of the Arizona House , Assistant Minority Leader and Minority Whip in the Senate, and service on committees like Judiciary, Regulatory Affairs, and Rules. He works as Director of New Business at Pomeroy & Associates, an insurance agency, for 26 years, and has coached wrestling. Notable achievements include his rise through Democratic leadership ranks and membership in the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials. In 2026, he announced he will not seek re-election to focus on family and career.
