Biography
Lorraine Rodero Inouye is a Democratic Hawaii State Senator representing District 1 on Hawaii Island. Born on June 22, 1940, in Hilo, Hawaii, she is the most experienced elected official on Hawaii Island, having served in various roles since the 1980s. She currently holds key leadership positions as the Senate Majority Whip, chair of the Water and Land Committee, and vice chair of the Transportation and Culture and the Arts Committees. She also serves on the powerful Ways & Means Committee, overseeing financial policies, taxation, and budgets, and is a member of the Public Safety and Military Affairs Committee. Notable achievements include passing legislation for healthcare , supporting harbors, airports, schools, and community groups. Honors include recognition from the Big Island Press Club, National Guard Association, University of Hawai’i-Hilo, Hawaii Farm Bureau, and as one of the 100 Most Influential Filipina Women in the U.S. She owns Aloha Blooms, Inc., a 10-acre farm, with her husband Vern.
