Lori M. Stone is a Democratic politician and former teacher currently serving as the mayor of Warren, Michigan. She previously represented Michigan House District 13 , covering parts of Warren and Center Line in Macomb County. A lifelong Warren resident and third-generation educator, she taught elementary school for 14 years, including at Mound Park Elementary. Notable achievements include sponsoring 25 bills as a state representative, serving as a pledged delegate for Joe Biden at the 2020 Michigan Democratic presidential primary, and focusing on public education, family support, infrastructure, and auto insurance reform. She is single and active in community groups like the Warren Center Line Prevention Coalition, Warren Symphony Society, Michigan Education Association, and American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Education

Stone graduated from Fitzgerald Public Schools and the Macomb Mathematics Science Technology Center. She earned bachelor's degrees from Michigan State University in Political Theory and Constitutional Democracy and Elementary Education , plus a master's degree in Science Education . She was a 2017 fellow with the Michigan Political Leadership Program.

Political Experience

Stone served three sessions in the Michigan House of Representatives as a Democrat from District 28 . She sat on committees including Education, Insurance and Financial Services, Agriculture, Health Policy, Military/Veterans/Homeland Security, and Economic Development and Small Business . A member of the Progressive Women's Caucus and unions like the Michigan Education Association and Fitzgerald Education Association, she advocated for students, teachers, and public education. She now serves as mayor of Warren, applying her teaching experience to policy on education quality, families, infrastructure, and insurance costs.
