Lori Houghton is a Democrat representing Chittenden-22 in the Vermont House of Representatives since 2017. Born August 4, 1969, in Washington, D.C., she has lived in Essex Junction since 2002 with her husband Jon and son; they co-operate the family businesses Maplehurst Florist and Sam's Scoop Shop. She retired from LexisNexis in December 2023 after a 20-year career in sales, management, and leadership roles, including Vice President of Sales and Sales Operations Analyst, previously at TransUnion. Notable achievements include serving as Chair of the House Health Care Committee, where she led expansions in telehealth, codification of Affordable Care Act protections like pre-existing condition bans, and pandemic relief allocations; elected House Majority Leader in December 2024; advocating for paid family leave, minimum wage increases, strong schools and childcare, climate change action, raising the smoking age to 21, and protecting women's reproductive health; community roles as Essex Junction Trustee for eight years, founder/leader of Five Corners Farmers Market, creator of Essex Junction Bike Walk Committee via a Building Healthy Community Grant, and service on University of Vermont Children's Hospital Advisory Committee, Essex Junction Parks and Recreation, Heart and Soul of Essex, and Blueprint for Health Executive Committee; 2016 Vermont Leadership Institute graduate.
