Biography

Lori Kathryn Gramlich is a Democratic state representative for House District 131 in Maine, representing Old Orchard Beach. She serves as Assistant House Majority Leader and is currently in her fourth term , having first assumed office on December 5, 2018, after defeating Sharri MacDonald in the general election. A social worker with nearly 40 years of experience in nonprofit prevention-based social work, advocacy, and social justice, she is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Southern Maine School of Social Work. Her legislative priorities include affordable behavioral health care, protecting children from abuse, and safeguarding the environment from toxic chemicals. Notable achievements include sponsoring retroactive legislation easing civil lawsuits for child sexual abuse survivors and a bill banning PFAS "forever chemicals" by 2030 with disclosure requirements starting in 2023. Previously a survivor of child sexual abuse, she served six years on the Environment and Natural Resources Committee as House Chair, co-chaired the 2022 Commission to Study Water as a Resource, and sat on the Taxation Committee. She lives in Old Orchard Beach with her husband, Bob Kelly, and is the mother of one adult daughter.
