Biography
Lori Den Hartog is a Republican politician serving her sixth term in the Idaho State Senate, representing District 22 . She assumed office on December 1, 2014, and currently holds the position of Senate Majority Leader. A lifelong Idaho Republican, she is a wife to Scott and mother of three children, with her father, John Vander Woude, also serving as a Republican in the Idaho House of Representatives—the first father-daughter duo in the Idaho Legislature. Her professional background includes work in land use, transportation planning, grant administration, economic development, and job creation, advocating for conservative values like limited government, reduced regulations, and fiscal policies supporting families and businesses.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Graduate of Nampa Christian High School; B.A. in Business Administration with a minor in Public Administration from Dordt University.
- Political Experience: Elected in 2014; served as vice chair of the Senate Agricultural Affairs Committee and chair of the Senate Transportation Committee . Current committees include Local Government & Taxation, State Affairs, Legislative Council, and co-chair of the Occupational and Professional Licensure Review Committee.
