Biography
Senator Lonnie M. Randolph is a Democratic member of the Indiana State Senate representing District 2 . He has served since 2008, following prior terms from 1992–1998, and is noted for achievements like Freshman Legislator of the Year , former president of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus, and strong advocacy for women's rights, unions, job creation, small business, veterans' rights, and healthcare policy.
Lonnie Marcus Randolph, born August 7, 1949, resides in East Chicago, Indiana, with his wife Linda Diane; they have two children and two grandchildren. A founding partner of the law firm Randolph and Randolph, P.C. , he began his Senate service in 1992, earning recognition as Freshman Legislator of the Year from peers in his first year. Appointed East Chicago City Court judge in 1998 by Governor Frank O’Bannon, he ran unsuccessfully for mayor in 2003 before returning to the Senate in 2008. He has served as president of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus and as a regional representative for the National Black Caucus of State Legislators, contributing to mental health policy discussions.
