Biography
Senator London Lamar ** represents **Tennessee's 33rd Senate District, which includes parts of Memphis and Shelby County. She is the youngest woman and youngest African American to serve in the Tennessee State Senate, making history as a trailblazing legislator focused on strong schools, healthy families, safe neighborhoods, maternal health equity, human trafficking prevention, criminal justice reform, and voting rights.
A third-generation resident of the 33rd District, Lamar graduated from Central High School in Memphis in 2009 as top of her class. She is a Memphis-based strategist and CEO of The L2 Company, with prior roles as a self-employed consultant and organizer for groups like Stand for Children. Notable achievements include passing over seven public laws, chairing the Senate Democratic Caucus , and leading the Shelby County Delegation. She serves on key committees including Judiciary, Finance, Energy, and Joint Ways and Means, influencing policy on public safety, budgets, and more.
Education and Political Experience
Education: Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Sociology and Intercultural Studies from Saint Mary's College ; attended American University Washington Semester Program in Politics .
