Biography
Liz Lee ** is a *Democratic-Farmer-Labor * member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing **District 67A in Ramsey County. A proud Hmong American, she is the daughter of refugees displaced by the civil war in Laos , who fled to Thailand before immigrating to St. Paul, Minnesota, in the early 1990s. Lee grew up on the Eastside, living in public housing while her father attended school, and faced housing discrimination as her family sought a home. She is the first woman and first Asian American elected to represent District 67A. Elected in 2022 and serving her second term, she holds committee roles including Co-Vice Chair of Elections Finance and Government Operations, and serves on Taxes and Education Finance committees.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: B.A. in political science from Yale University.
- Early Career: Worked for U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, and U.S. Representatives Keith Ellison and Barbara Lee.
- Advocacy Work: Spent a decade advocating for health equity, bridging the academic achievement gap, affordable housing, public transit, and secured funding for computer science education for girls and students of color.
