Biography
Senator Lisa Frizell
Elizabeth Norris "Lisa" Frizell is a Republican member of the Colorado Senate, representing Senate District 2, which includes part of Douglas County. She is a proud native of Douglas County and a long-time resident of Castle Rock, Colorado. She is a wife, mother, and grandmother with deep community roots, recalling when Castle Rock had just one stoplight and the entire county had only one high school.
Political Experience
Frizell was first elected to the Colorado General Assembly in 2022, representing Colorado House District 45, which included the Douglas County communities of Castle Rock, The Pinery, and Castle Pines Village. During her two terms in the House, she proved highly effective, passing eight bills in the 2023 session and eighteen bills in 2024, with several helping to ease the property tax burden for Coloradans.
In January 2024, she announced her candidacy for Colorado's 2nd Senate district. She won the Republican primary on June 25, 2024, with 66.22% of votes, and won the general election on November 5, 2024, with 60.68% of the vote, defeating Democratic candidate Jennifer Brady and Libertarian candidate Caryn Ann Harlos.
In the Senate, Frizell currently serves as Assistant Minority Leader and holds positions on several committees including Finance and Health and Human Services.
Education and Professional Background
Prior to entering the legislature, Frizell dedicated over 25 years to the Douglas County Assessor's Office, where she served two terms as County Assessor. She is a licensed appraiser and was named 2020 Colorado Assessor of the Year. She has held numerous leadership roles in her community, including President of the Colorado Assessors Association, Chair and Treasurer of the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce, and Chair of Castle Rock Artfest. She is a recognized advocate for limited government, fiscal responsibility, Second Amendment rights, and pro-life policies.
