Biography
Lisa Ann Cutter is a Democratic member of the Colorado Senate representing District 20, which includes parts of Lakewood, Dakota Ridge, Arvada, Fairmount, and Evergreen in Jefferson County. A lifelong Colorado resident, she was first elected to the Colorado House of Representatives for District 25 in 2018, defeating Republican Steve Szutenbach with 53% of the vote, and served until 2023. She won her Senate seat in 2022, defeating Republican Tim Walsh with 54% of the vote. Cutter serves as Assistant Majority Leader, chair of the Transportation & Energy Committee, and a member of the Health & Human Services Committee. She is also co-founder and co-chair of the Colorado Democratic Women’s Caucus. Her priorities include mental health support for vulnerable populations, quality public education, healthcare access , public safety , and environmental conservation like waste diversion.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: BS in Marketing, Metropolitan State University of Denver ; attended Journalism program, University of Colorado at Boulder .
- Professional Background: Founded Cutter Communications in 1998, an award-winning public relations firm working with business and nonprofit clients on issues like healthcare, housing, and environmental topics. Recognized as Denver Business Journal Outstanding Woman in Business and recipient of PRSA Swede Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award.
