Biography
Senator Linda Greenstein
Linda R. Greenstein is a Democratic state senator from New Jersey who represents the 14th Legislative District. Born on June 7, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, she is the first woman to represent the 14th Legislative District in the Senate, having been elected in 2009.
Greenstein is married to Michael and has one child, Evan. Before her election to the State Senate, she served five years as a member of the Plainsboro Township Committee and was an elected member of the West Windsor-Plainsboro Board of Education, serving as vice president of the Mercer County School Boards Association.

Greenstein holds three advanced degrees:

Political Experience

Greenstein was elected to the New Jersey State Senate in November 2010. She currently serves as Chair of the Law and Public Safety Committee and holds several other significant positions, including Co-Chair of the Joint Legislative Task Force on Drinking Water Infrastructure, Vice-Chair of the Environment and Energy Committee, and membership on the Budget and Appropriations Committee.

Prior to her Senate service, Greenstein represented the 14th Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly for a decade. Her legislative accomplishments include authoring New Jersey's landmark anti-telemarketing law, sponsoring legislation to increase school bus safety, and expanding the scope of Megan's Law. She was a leading advocate for ethics reforms, a founder and co-chair of the Legislative Smart Growth Caucus, and a prime sponsor of legislation moving the state's presidential primary to February.
Professional Background
A specialist in disability law, Greenstein previously served as a senior staff attorney at the Community Health Law Project, supervised the Public Interest Legal Clinic at Montclair State University, and was a clinical associate professor at Seton Hall Law School. She has also served as a deputy state attorney general in Trenton and as an assistant district attorney in Philadelphia.
