Biography
Linda Featherston is a Democratic member of the Kansas House of Representatives, representing District 16 in Johnson County. A lifelong Kansan and former music teacher, she was elected in November 2020 and assumed office on January 11, 2021. She serves on the Agriculture, Education, Local Government, and Water committees, holding ranking minority member positions on Local Government and Agriculture.
Notable achievements include passing bills in 2023 to increase penalties for attacking on-duty healthcare workers and extend protection from abuse orders, as well as securing expanded access to diagnostic mammograms for state employees in 2024. She advocates for children, families, schools, and Medicaid expansion, and has earned endorsements from groups like the Kansas National Education Association, American Federation of Teachers, and Kansas Farm Bureau.
Education and Political Experience
Featherston attended Kansas public schools from kindergarten through graduate school, as did her two children. Prior to politics, she worked as a piano teacher and volunteered on campaigns, including for her predecessor Cindy Holscher.
Her political experience began with her 2020 election to the Kansas House, where she has focused on constituent services and bipartisan collaboration.
