Biography
Linda S. Carter is a Democratic Assemblywoman representing New Jersey's 22nd Legislative District, which includes municipalities in Union, Somerset, and Middlesex Counties. A lifelong resident of Plainfield, she is affectionately known as “New Jersey’s Wonder Woman” for her career advocating for underprivileged and middle-class communities. She serves as Majority Conference Leader , previously as Deputy Whip . Notable achievements include being the first African American woman to chair the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders , and current roles as Chair or Vice Chair of committees like Higher Education, Transportation, and Appropriations. She is also a member of the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus.

- Master of Science in Management from Stevens Institute of Technology.
- Employed as a High School Business Education Teacher for the Passaic Board of Education.

- Served nearly two decades on the Plainfield City Council.
- Member of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, later chair.
- Appointed to the New Jersey General Assembly on May 24, 2018, to fill a vacancy in District 22; elected in a special election on November 6, 2018.

- Active in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and the New Jersey Board of Realtors.
