Biography
Lincoln Fillmore is a Republican state senator representing District 17 in Utah, covering parts of West Jordan, South Jordan, and Herriman in Salt Lake County. Appointed to the Utah Senate on January 5, 2016, by Governor Gary Herbert, he was reelected in 2016 and 2020. He serves as chair of the Senate Rules Committee and is a member of the Senate Education Committee, Senate Judiciary, Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Committee, Criminal Justice Appropriations Subcommittee, and Senate Committee on Legislative Redistricting. Notable achievements include founding Charter Solutions in 2007 to support public charter schools, a 20-year career in education as a teacher and administrator, and operating bakeries in Taylorsville and West Jordan as a small-business owner. A lifelong Salt Lake County resident except for his teenage years in California—where he wrote a conservative news column and ran for city council at age 18—he is an avid baseball fan who worked nine years as a minor-league announcer. He lives in South Jordan with his wife, Cheryl, and their two children.
Education and Political Experience
Fillmore earned a degree in mass communication from the University of Utah. His political experience includes prior roles as precinct, legislative, and region chair for the Utah Republican Party, county and state delegate, work on ballot initiative campaigns, and volunteering on candidate campaigns.
