Biography
Lillian Ortiz-Self is a Democratic representative for Washington's 21st Legislative District in the House of Representatives. She has served since 2013 or 2014 and holds key leadership roles, including Majority Caucus Chair and chair of the Washington State Latino Democratic Caucus. Notable achievements include co-chairing the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee, serving on committees such as Human Services, Youth & Early Learning; Education; Labor and Workplace Standards; and Rules, and contributing to national groups like the National Hispanic Caucus of State Legislators' Executive Committee and the National Council of State Legislators’ Education Committee. Her professional background emphasizes mental health and education, including roles as clinical director of the Tri-Cty Mental Health Center in Missouri, regional coordinator for the Illinois State Board of Education, education advisor for the Department of Children and Family Services, and founder/director of the Comunidad Unida Project for Latino families and youth. She currently works as a mental health and school counselor in the Everett Public School District.
