Delegate Lesley J. Lopez is a Democratic member of the Maryland House of Delegates representing District 39 in Montgomery County. Elected in 2018, she has served as Deputy Majority Whip and currently chairs the Elder and Long-Term Care Subcommittee of the Health Committee . Notable achievements include authoring Maryland's ban on unserialized "ghost guns" in 2022, leading the Maryland Women’s Legislative Caucus as president in 2023 to pass reproductive rights legislation, and advocating for student debt relief, healthcare efficiency, and protections for economically vulnerable residents. A domestic violence survivor, she has held board positions with YWCA USA, NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland, Montgomery County Board of Social Services, and as a National Volunteer Partner for Girl Scouts USA. She lives in Germantown with her husband and two sons.
