Biography
Leslie Heinemann
Leslie J. Heinemann is a Republican member of the South Dakota House of Representatives representing District 25. He is currently serving as Majority Whip in the House. Based in Flandreau, South Dakota, Heinemann works as a dentist, farmer, and small business owner.
Education
Heinemann earned his DDS from Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago in 1981. He graduated from Augustana College in 1977 and attended South Dakota State University.
Political Experience
Heinemann has extensive legislative experience in the South Dakota House of Representatives. He previously represented District 8 from 2013 to 2019, where he served as Majority Whip from 2016 to 2019. He has held several committee positions throughout his tenure, including former membership on the Appropriations Committee, FTE Subcommittee, Legislative Procedure Committee, Local Government Committee, and State Affairs Committee.
Currently, Heinemann serves on the Health and Human Services Committee and the Retirement Laws Committee, where he holds the position of vice chair on both. He is also a member of the House State Affairs Committee.
