Leonard Glenn Christian is a Republican politician from Spokane Valley, Washington, born on September 22, 1965. He currently serves as a Senator in the Washington State Legislature, representing the 4th Legislative District, having been elected in 2024. Prior to his election to the state Senate, he served in the Washington House of Representatives from 2023 to 2025 after being elected in 2022. He was initially appointed to the state House in 2014 by the Spokane County Board of Commissioners to fill the vacancy left by Representative Larry Crouse's resignation.

Christian grew up in the Spokane area and married his high school sweetheart, Rima, shortly after their graduation from Ferris High School. He joined the Air Force two weeks after graduating and enjoyed a distinguished military career spanning several decades, serving as an aircraft mechanic, shop chief, recruiter, and security manager before retiring in 2005. He returned to Spokane Valley to begin a second career in real estate, working as a real estate broker since 2007.

Education

Christian earned a bachelor's degree from Embry Riddle University and later obtained a master's degree in business administration from Webster University.

Political Experience

Beyond his legislative service, Christian has held several civic positions, including service on the Spokane County Property Tax Board of Equalization and the Regional Solid Waste Advisory Committee. He has served as a Republican District Leader and Precinct Committee Officer. In his current role as state Senator, he serves on committees focused on capital budget, state government and tribal relations, innovation, community and economic development, and veterans affairs.

Christian has been an active community volunteer, teaching aircraft mechanics at Moody Bible Institute in Spokane and serving as a search and rescue pilot for Civil Air Patrol. He is married with two children and three grandchildren.
