Representative Leigh Hulsey

Leigh Hulsey is a Republican member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing District 15 since November 2022. A lifelong Alabama resident, she is a businesswoman and community leader from Helena.

Hulsey is the owner of CrossFit Alabaster and Henley Developments, LLC. She serves as President of the Alabaster Business Alliance and Vice President of Campaigns for the Republican Women of North Shelby County. She is also an Executive Committee Member of the Shelby County GOP and has been active at the Church of the Highlands, Riverchase campus.

Education

Hulsey earned a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University in 2001.

Political Experience

Hulsey was first elected to the Helena City Council in 2008, serving for 13-14 years before transitioning to state office. In 2021, she ran in a special election for Alabama House District 73 but narrowly lost the Republican primary runoff by 63 votes. Following redistricting, she ran for the newly configured District 15 seat and was elected on November 8, 2022, defeating Democratic opponent Richard Rouco. She was selected as the House Republican Caucus' freshman leader.

Her legislative priorities focus on road projects, well-funded schools, education advancement, and enhancing recreational trails. Her campaign emphasized advocacy for families and community needs.
