Biography

Laurie Bratten is a Republican member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, representing District 51. She assumed office on January 6, 2025, with her current term ending January 4, 2027, and announced her re-election campaign in March 2026. Born and raised in Ohio, she moved to Wyoming in 2017 with her husband Rich, settling in Sheridan County; they have a daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. After raising her family, Bratten focused on community involvement, agricultural activities on their property, and earned a Wyoming Master Gardener designation.

Education and Political Experience

Bratten holds a BA in Biology and Comprehensive Science Education from Miami University in Ohio. She taught high school science for seven years and worked as a pharmaceutical salesperson, advancing to top sales positions. She paused her career to raise her children, then entered politics in 2008, serving as a legislative aide in the Colorado State Legislature for analysis and communications. In 2014, she became Congressional District Director in Colorado, managing offices and constituent services for issues like Social Security and VA assistance. In Wyoming, she worked for conservative legislators and groups before her election.
