Biography
Laura Faver Dias
Laura Faver Dias is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives representing the 62nd District. She is currently serving her second term in the Illinois General Assembly, having been elected in January 2023.
Faver Dias is an award-winning educator and community leader from Grayslake, Illinois. She is the mother of twin boys and a former small business owner. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to community building, serving in various leadership roles including as a resident assistant in college, a mentor to new teachers during her time as an educator, and a founding member of her church's board.
As a community advocate, Faver Dias champions environmental justice, common sense gun reform, affordable health care for all, tax reform, and education. She has also been involved in civic education, teaching citizenship classes at HACES, a nonprofit organization that provides resources to people who have recently immigrated.
Education
Faver Dias holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies from Indiana University and a Master of Arts in Bicultural Education from Wayne State University.
Political Experience
Before her election to the Illinois House of Representatives, Faver Dias served as a Grayslake Village Trustee and was a member of the Economic Development Commission of Grayslake. In the Illinois General Assembly, she works as a full-time legislator. She resides in Grayslake with her husband and two children.
