Laura Dancho
Laura Dancho is a Republican politician from Stratford, Connecticut, who served in the Connecticut House of Representatives representing District 120 from 2023 to 2025. She is a lifelong Stratford resident who has built her career around community service and local governance.
Dancho is a proud mother of three children and grandmother of four. She has been married to her husband Gregg for 44 years. Beyond her political roles, she has maintained active involvement in her community through various organizations, including serving as PTA Treasurer for Stratford Academy, participating as a band parent at Bunnell High School, and serving as a member of the Friends of Boothe Memorial Park, the Housatonic Boat Club, and Our Lady of Grace Church.
Political Experience
Dancho's political career began at the local level when she was first elected to the Stratford Town Council in 2017, where she unseated an incumbent member. She successfully won reelection in both 2019 and 2021, capturing over 61% of the vote in a politically mixed district. During her tenure on the Town Council, she served as Chair of both the Ordinance and Board of Education Liaison committees.
In 2022, she was elected to the Connecticut House of Representatives for District 120, officially beginning her state legislative term on January 4, 2023. However, she was unseated in the 2024 election by Democrat Kaitlyn Shake, with her tenure concluding on January 8, 2025.
Professional Background
Dancho has worked at Fairfield University for over 25 years, currently holding the position of Senior Program Coordinator in the Biology Department. Throughout her professional and political career, she has emphasized public safety, Connecticut affordability, and local issues as her legislative priorities.
