Biography
Laura Budd is a Democratic member of the North Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 103 in parts of Mecklenburg County, including South Charlotte, Ballantyne, and Pineville. She has served since January 2023 and is currently in her second term during the 2025-2026 session. An attorney and community leader, she focuses on education, healthcare, economic opportunity, social justice, public safety, and empowering women. Notable positions include membership in the Progressive House Caucus.
Education and Political Experience
- Education: Earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Ohio University in 1999, and a Juris Doctor from Wake Forest School of Law in 2002.
- Professional Experience: Managing Attorney at Weaver Budd, Attorneys at Law since 2002; active in community organizations such as president of the Matthews Athletic Recreation Association, vice-president of the Piedmont Gymnastics Association, Mecklenburg County Bar, and Matthews Chamber of Commerce.
