Biography
Larry Craig Strickland is a Republican representing North Carolina House District 28, which includes southern Johnston County. A lifelong resident of Johnston County, he was born and raised on a tobacco farm in the Brogden community and has lived in Pine Level for over 40 years. He owns Strickland Appraisal Services, LLC, worked as a real estate appraiser and farmer, and previously served with the North Carolina Department of Transportation as Assistant Manager of the Right of Way Unit until retiring in 2016. Elected to the NC House in 2016, he is currently in his fifth term and serves as Senior Chairman of the Appropriations Committee and Vice Chairman of Appropriations, Transportation. Notable committee roles include Agriculture and Environment, Commerce and Economic Development, Energy and Public Utilities, Transportation, and House Select Committee on Helene Recovery.
Education and Political Experience
- Community Involvement: Served as Chairman of the Johnston County School Parent Advisory Board for four years; on the Johnston County Board of Education for 18 years , including 8 years as Board Chairman.
- Political Career: Elected to NC House District 28 in November 2016; has served on committees including Agriculture , Transportation, Energy and Public Utilities, Commerce, Environment, State and Local Government I, and Appropriations .
