Larry McBurney is a Democratic State Representative for Iowa House District 44, representing Urbandale in central Iowa. Born on March 3, 1986, in Des Moines, he was raised in the area off Douglas Avenue and has deep roots in Iowa values. He currently serves as executive director of the Filipino American Society of Iowa and works in banking. McBurney is a military veteran with 11 years in the Iowa Air National Guard as a Weapons Armament Technician, including three deployments ; he earned medals such as the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal. Notable positions include Urbandale City Council member , past member of the Urbandale Civil Rights Commission , 2nd year Trustee with VFW Post 9668, American Legion member, Urbandale representative on the Bravo Greater Des Moines board, and liaison for the Polk County Grow Solar program. In the Iowa House, he is ranking member of the Government Oversight committee and serves on the Economic Development Budget Subcommittee .
