Biography
Lane Taylor is a Republican member of the Mississippi State Senate representing District 18, which includes Leake, Winston, and Neshoba counties. A businessman from Philadelphia, Mississippi, he was first elected in an April 2025 nonpartisan special election, winning 56.9% of the vote to succeed Senator Jenifer Branning, who resigned after election to the Mississippi Supreme Court. He was sworn in on April 29, 2025, and has pledged to focus on agriculture, forestry, and state highways.
Education and Political Experience
- Attended Neshoba Central High School and East Central Community College.
- Worked as an insurance agent at the Mississippi Farm Bureau before founding Lane Taylor Auction Company in 2015.
- Announced his candidacy in December 2024 as the first candidate for the special election and currently serves out Branning's unexpired term in the Mississippi State Senate.
