Biography

Landon C. Dais is a Democratic Assembly Member representing New York's 77th Assembly District in The Bronx. He is a community leader, attorney, and advocate for social justice, criminal justice reform, and economic development.

Landon Dais was born in Harlem and raised in New York, later moving to Mount Vernon before settling in Highbridge, The Bronx, with his wife and two sons. His wife, who immigrated from the Dominican Republic, serves on Bronx Community Board 4. He is deeply involved in community service, including membership in the Abyssinian Baptist Church, leadership of the Highbridge Heights Homeowners Association, and service on the Mid Bronx Desperadoes Board to promote affordable housing. Dais coaches youth baseball in the Rev. T. Wendell Foster Park Baseball League and founded "Brunch of Dads," a support group for Black and Latino fathers. Prior to his Assembly role, he worked as Deputy Director at the Police Athletic League and at Turner Construction on projects like the new Yankee Stadium. As an attorney specializing in cannabis law, he advanced marijuana legalization, workforce development, and criminal justice reform, earning Pro-Bono Attorney of the Year from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center and the NAACP Roy Wilkins Award. He served as vice chair of the Bronx Democratic Party since 2021 and was nominated by the Bronx Democratic Party to replace former Assembly Member Latoya Joyner.

Education and Political Experience

  • Education: Attended Fordham Prep; B.A. in Business Management from Morehouse College ; M.S. in Real Estate Development from Columbia University; J.D. from Hofstra Law School.
  • Political Experience: Early involvement in Harlem politics as president of the Uptown Democratic Club, where he started a youth division; unsuccessful runs for City Council District 9 and Assembly District 70 district leader; campaign work for out-of-state candidates; founded his own cannabis law consulting firm in 2022; elected to New York State Assembly District 77 as a Democrat.
