Biography
Representative Kyle Mullins
Kyle Mullins is a Democrat representing District 112 in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, serving residents of Lackawanna County. He was elected in 2018 and has been re-elected since then. A native of Peckville, Pennsylvania, Mullins pursued public office to make his community a better place to live and work, and to support families in raising their children.
Mullins' legislative priorities focus on three critical areas: strengthening communities, protecting hard-working families, and reforming state government. He advocates for creating job opportunities, finding property tax solutions for homeowners and seniors, and increasing commitment to education. He also prioritizes environmental protection, supporting measures like severance taxes on gas drilling and increased funding for the Department of Environmental Protection.
Education
Mullins is a graduate of Valley View High School and West Chester University. During his time in both high school and college, he distinguished himself as a leader, serving as student body president of both institutions.
Political Experience
Before his election to the State House, Mullins dedicated his career to public service. After graduating from West Chester University, he began work in the Senate Democratic Research Office, where he learned the legislative process and developed relationships with policymakers.
In 2011, Mullins was hired as Legislative Director in the office of State Senator John Blake, a position he held until his election to the House. In this role, he worked to serve constituents and advance policy across Lackawanna, Luzerne, and Monroe counties. His work included advocating for environmental protection and fighting against harmful legislation.
In 2018, Mullins won a five-way Democratic primary with 43.3% of the vote and defeated Republican Ernest Lemoncelli in the general election to represent District 112 in the Pennsylvania House.
